Monty Belligerent

Monty was born on the poor side of a very rich town in the suburbs. He was arrested for kleptomania at a young age. His defense was he took things… literally…
His anger and defiance led him to a career as a doctor’s office receptionist. Nobody could yell “sit down, shut up, and show me your insurance card” better than Monty. Since he has been able to retire from his occupation, he runs the front office of the gated community in the same manner as he did the many doctor’s offices. Let’s just say, things have not been easy for the residents of Del Vista Boca Leisure Village Phase 3. It’s safe to say that Monty is not the only one who’s happy about his escape from the community. It is said that people from 16 miles away could hear the sigh of relief from the 652 units.

Cranky Carmichael


Cranky hails from the city of New Orleans, Arlo Guthrie refused to agree that Cranky is the native son. He was born to play the piano. He requested one in the nursery, which is odd since most newborns from New Orleans ask for a harmonica. Cranky spent years playing keyboards for The Captain Kangaroo Show and he taught The Captain from Captain & Tenille how to play keyboards. When they divorced, Cranky claimed he was The Captain now. He met Monty at a poker game at Del Vista Boca Leisure Village Phase 3. They got into a fistfight over a pair of 3’s. They have been close friends ever since.

Les Young


Les represents the Jewish section of Del Vista Boca Leisure Phase 3. The only section with no Christmas lights. Les is so Jewish he had 7 Bar Mitzvahs, even though he was bald with a full gray beard by the age of 12.

We found Les at a local Jewish deli returning Matzoh ball soup because it was too salty. Les met Monty and Cranky at an AA meeting. He was addicted to  Manischewitz. Les was once in a Klezma band but got kicked out for having too much lint in his pupik. OY!

Anita Knapp


Anita is tired. Tired of your crap, Tired of everybody’s crap for that matter. Anita hasn’t sung professionally after falling asleep while singing backing vocals for the 70’s country band Asleep At The Wheel. She woke up one day and found herself in the middle of a poker game where she witnessed two grown men fighting over a pair of 3’s. She burst into a song from the play Oklahoma called June is Busting Out All Over. Monty and Cranky stopped fighting and invited Anita to join the band. She hasn’t slept since.

Joe Gelish is an accomplished piano player and songwriter and has performed at many esteemed venues including The Friars Club and The Gramercy Theatre in NYC, the Founder’s Room at The Paramount in Huntington, and various East End wineries.

Les Degen

(Les Young)
With a background in musical theater (Fagin in Oliver, Applegate in Damn Yankees, Tevye in Fiddler some of his favorite roles) Les is a Singer/Entertainer who performs an interactive and engaging program of standards, show tunes, and rock n roll. Les is also a Stand-Up Comedian and 2024 WINNER of Bethpage Federal Credit Union’s “Best of Long Island-Best Comedian for Seniors.”

Anita Starlite

Anita Starlite is a professional singer/entertainer who has performed in venues and restaurants from L.I. to N.Y.C. Music Genres include Jazz, Cabaret  50’s-90’s music, BWY, the American Songbook and some Country.  In other words,  a little bit of everything. She also performs a Barbra Streisand Tribute and is part of The Long Island Legends. In the past She has performed in local Community Musical Theater.  Being a part of TRVP has been a personal joy for her.
